Goodreads

I usually post on Mondays, but since it’s the beginning of the month,  I’ll be saving myself for
Alex J. Cavanaugh’s Insecure Writers Support Group on Wednesday.  In the mean time, I wanted to share something with you.

Though I’ve been a member of Goodreads for a while now, I was just granted an author’s page  and have listed my forthcoming novel, The Mistaken.  So if you’re on Goodreads and interested, click on the link and add my book to your TBR list.  And add me as a friend.  Goodness knows, I can use all the friends I can get!

Tell me, do you use Goodreads to connect with other readers and writers?  Do you ever find good book recommendations using Goodreads?

I finally figured out Goodreads and have found a lot of blogger friends there.

Usually I find out which of my favorite authors have a book coming out soon because my "friends" have added the book to their TBR list (or rated it). If it weren't for this, I wouldn't know about half the books coming out. It's a big plus for the authors. Not so great for my TBR pile, though.

Like Stina, I find out about books that way. I wondered how you get an author page. Didn't realize you had to be invited. Just became your fan.

I LOVE Goodreads. I always get great recommendations for books just by seeing who is reading what.

Though I hear a lot of good things about Goodreads (except for the occasional "Author Implosion" that happens over there), I have not gotten around to setting up my own account yet. There are only so many sites in a day, and so much time in a day to hit up all this stuff. And this from a guy who doesn't do much with Facebook, isn't Linked In, and doesn't tweet, and tries not to get bogged down in blogs.

My 'problem' with Goodreads--any site, really, even blogs--is that I spend too much time thinking about what I'm going to write. It's a wonder I get anything done!

I'm still not on goodreads. I know, I know, I must get on that.

Hey Nancy! I accepted your friend request! (Also added your book) I apologize for the delay in adding...I don't get on Goodreads super-often. Maybe once a week or so.

I just added your book and sent you a friend request. ;)

I joined Goodreads back in December and set up an author page immediately after that. The strangest thing happened earlier this year though; all three of my books lost all their information: author, ratings, book covers and all. I never bothered contacting them at the time though, since I had only garnered a handful of ratings. But I guess it's high time that I did.

Wow!!! That is so totally awesome!!! As soon as I have time to get on there I am going to friend you! Yay!!!! That is so cool!

I use Goodreads to connect with writers/readers, but I also use it to keep track of my to-read list most of all. It's a great site.

Very cool, Nancy! I'll run over and fan you--LOL! I do use Goodreads, but not as much as the reviews on Amazon. I always forget to update my GR with what I'm reading and when I make progress. So it looks like it takes me YEARS to finish a book. Good luck w/Mistaken! :D <3

I've been on Goodreads for a long time but still don't use it as much as I should.

I haven't ventured onto Goodreads yet. It's somewhere on my do-list.

I have an account but am not very active. I will have to check it out!

Congrats, Nancy! I love the cover. Awesome. Added your book to my TBR. Can't wait to read it.

I'm on Goodreads & have an author page. It was helpful when I started out, but I'm mostly just 'there' these days. Authors should be 'there'. Otherwise the sight is mostly for readers, which is why we should be 'there'.

I am new to Goodreads and am still trying to figure it out. But I'll find you and your book and will click the TBR. It sounds great!

Congrats!!!

I have not used goodreads, as of yet, but might look into it.

I've been on Goodreads for a couple of years, though I didn't use it much at first, but it's growing on me. I've found some very good books I knew nothing about from others on Goodreads.

Hey Nancy,
Yes, finally you can relax. For I have arrived to leave one of my um 'highly sought after', 'highly treasured', comments. Note my humbleness :)
I really must check out those links. And I'm really delighted you have been given an author's page.
I'm your friend. Your starstruck friend, of course :)
All the best and continued happy writing, Gary

I'm always on Goodreads... I love tagging all the books I'm going to read. It's a great place to find like-minded people.

Alex turned me on to Goodreads and I enjoy visiting there and looking through some of the things being published. I will stop in to see you there.

Watching you do all this fun author-y stuff is so fun! I'm not on Goodreads yet (too intimidated to add another "thing"), but when I do, I'll definitely friend you :)

I just added your book. Very Exciting! Ciara Knight leads a Goodreads group called Knights of the Round Table. Come check it out, if you haven't already. :)

I have been on Goodreads for a year or so, but I've neglected it. Big time. Trying to fix that! ;)

Nancy, "The Mistaken" sounds excellent. I can't wait to read it! Bravo, and congrats!!!

Excellent! Heading over.

I've never tried Goodreads--I've just been using Shelfari for a year or so to track the books I read. Might end up joining GR eventually, though, since it sounds like a great site and everyone seems to be there. :P

I am so bad with Goodreads! I know I should be more active over there, but I'm so terrible at visiting that site (yet I seem to have time for blogs, Twitter and Facebook, haha).

Woo hoo, my friend! Your star is rising!

I'm also not on Goodreads yet, but I'm impressed that you already have your own author's page there! Julie

Welcome to the Goodreads family! I joined last year and am slowly realising the power of this tool. It's a great way to connect with readers so I hope you'll enjoy. X

Great post, Nancy. And congrats. :)

Love, love, love GR! Glad you're on there. I've already got TM marked as 'to-read'!

I am trying to make a strong effort to review more books that really stand out to me. Authors work so hard on their books, and reviews really help with visibility, especially on goodreads and amazon. too it's fun to see what my friends are reading!
