Hey, I’m back! No, not really, but I do have a couple things
on the calendar today.
First, Alex
Cavanaugh, Stephen
Tremp, L. Diane Wolfe, and Michael Di
Gesu have teamed up for a Blog Hop that focuses on health.
This
is an issue with many bloggers who have expressed gaining weight over the
holidays and other negative health issues that they are dealing with. Here is a
Blog Hop that can help us make 2013 a year that we can help turn the
tides!
The Objective: Share with everyone something you have done that affected your health in a positive way. You can share an awesome low cal low fat tasty recipe. Post simple tips to lose weight. Or a testimony on what has helped like joining Weight Watchers. Recommend a routine like P90X or Insanity. Or stretches one can do while sitting in their office chair working or writing. We’re sure people have countless great tips and ideas they would love to share.

Well, I can’t say I’m the healthiest writer on the planet,
‘cause I’m so NOT, but a few years ago, before I started writing, and after I’d
gained too much weight to be comfortable with, I joined up with Positive Changes to help get my head
back into proper perspective. PC is a
hypnosis center, and before you scoff, it really, REALLY works!
My father used hypnosis to get over a 30 year smoking
habit. He did so in two weeks, cold
turkey, without any problem whatsoever.
So I decided to give it a try for weight loss, since that’s what PC
specializes in and is most noted for.
I went in for monthly hypnosis sessions, about 30 to 45
minutes each, which were recorded to a CD that I uploaded to iTunes and put on
my iPod. I listened to that recording
every single day. Plus, I attended
weekly classes they offered on nutrition and exercise. That’s what the sessions focused on, as
well. From there, I found it easy to
focus on my diet and exercise and I lost over 50 pounds in 8 months.
So if you have a problem committing yourself to eating
better and exercising everyday, consider hypnosis. I really does work! During your sessions, you are always in total
control and are completely aware. It’s
all about relaxation and being open to suggestion. That’s it.
Of course, you have to stay vigilant, even after your program is
complete. I’ll always have my session
recordings to listen to whenever I want or need to.
Second, I’m way out of practice on this sort of thing but…I
was tagged by the effervescent Tammy
Theriault in the Happy Meme and have been nominated for the Happy Award!
Must be all that happy dancin’ I’m always doing on Facebook
every time someone posts an awesome review!
Not much to this one, really, just thank the one who tagged
you—THANKS TAMMY!!—list 5 things that make me happy, and tag five more shiny,
happy people. So here goes…
5 things that make
me happy: having my son back home
for college, watching my 125-pound submissive snow
dog play with my 7-pound alpha cat, having writer friends who understand the joys and
pitfalls of publishing, selling the audio rights to my book, when readers tell
me how much they enjoyed my story.
Tag, you’re it:
- Alex Cavanaugh, who, I know, never does these sorts of things, but come on! Who else do you know who always seems so happy?
- Donna Weaver, who’s only days away from releasing her debut! How could she NOT be happy?
- Heather M. Gardner, another happy, soon to be published author!
- Mary Pax, who’s the most prolific author I know. No wonder she’s always smiling!
- L. Diane Wolfe, who always seems to have her act together, which = happiness

Hypnosis, Wow! Sounds like this really worked for you, well done.
Stay healthy, be happy :)
Welcome back (kind of). Great to see you happy! Hypnosis is one of those true "Your Mileage May Vary" things. My wife tried it for smoking, and it didn't work for her, but nothing has worked for her yet, sadly. On the other hand, it has certainly worked for a lot of people for a lot of things, and I'm glad you and your dad found success with it. I think a great deal of it has to do with how committed the individual is to making changes in the first place. Be well, stay happy!
I'd never heard of Positive Change. Glad it worked for you!
I bet watching your dog and cat together is hilarious.
And thanks for passing it to me - guess what? Someone else passed it and I posted my answers today. So there!!!
Thanks for participating in our bloghop.
So glad the positive change program worked for you. It's great finding something that works. I decided I needed to lose some pounds about a year ago. I've been pretty much sticking to my healthy habits and it worked.
What you write make much sense, I follow the Paul McKenna regime each book from losing weight to being positive and phobias contain a hypnosis cd. The DO work.
Yvonne.
I've heard good things and bad things about hypnosis. I'm glad that your experience was a positive one.
A Happy Award? That's too cool! I am pretty happy. I'm officially published! :) Thanks for sharing this award with me! I love reading about your happy dance reviews! Very proud of you and your book is great!
Thank you! Heather
50 pounds is wonderful! I'm so glad you found what worked for you. That really is the trick, isn't it?
Nancy, funny I was thinking of you yesterday and even checked my blog roll to make sure I hadn't accidentally taken you off the list or something. I realized I hadn't been by for a visit for awhile. Nice to see you around again.
I combined my get healthy and five happies today too- they go well hand-in-hand. I've never tried hypnosis but think it would be very helpful!
I've spoken to people who've had huge success from hypnosis. Congratulations on an amazing weight loss.
I knew some people who had a success with losing weight through hypnosis. I've tried that a few years ago (the sessions plus a CD), but it didn't work for me. I'm guessing, it depends on a person, and maybe it depends on who is the instructor. After all it is our subconscious that needs to kick in. So maybe that particular instructor didn't work for me.
I'm happy that you had great results! And I just realized that I haven't seen you in months!!!! Sooooo, how about that coffee?
Hugs.
Wow, sounds so intriguing! I'm so glad it worked for you :)
That is the first hypnosis one I've read about today. I've never thought about that option before, but hey, if it works...
I think I'll take a pass on the hypnosis.
I'm not sure that approach would work for me, but since it did for you I can't scoff at it :)
It's unique, that's for sure!
Woohoo! You sold the audio rights to your book? So exciting. I'm such a huge audiobook fan. I can't wait. Will you share more news about it?
Thanks for the tag!
CONGRATS on your weight loss!
I've heard hypnosis is very helpful for some people.
Congrats on your PC success!!! You should be happy! And congrats on your award...you deserve it from all those happy times on FB for sure. Have a great summer Nancy!!
I think this is the most creative suggestion I've heard today.
I love first person testimonials, they tell me more than the website ever could. Thanks for sharing this tip!
Hi, Nancy,
WOW... the same thing happened to me. When I began writing I gained fifty pounds in two years. I wish I would've known this option REALLY works.
CONGRATS on achieving you goal in such a short time AND keeping it off!
Thanks for sharing your experience with us and joining the HOP!
Name the time & place & I'm so there!
Oh yes, definitely. Just need to sign the docs.
I'm glad to hear that you had a positive experience with hypnosis!

Very interesting. Hypnosis works better when the person is willing to change. Nice to hear about your experience.
We should keep an open mind when it comes to our health.
Thanks for sharing your tools. I appreciate when people realize that some people need that extra push and attention to get of the unhealthy track they're on. Writer’s Mark
Very interesting. I never would have thought to try that.
